Amazing video and well produced. This information was very helpful as I used this in my classroom to explain a few principles based on Physics. Thank you BBC:)

Even a discipline made by teaching and reciprocal respect is applied, everything is ok.

Good video! Yet, using "Surprising" in the title is surprisingly disappointing. 👎😄

It’s a big surprise that a physical activity is governed by physical laws.

Nothing happening here. Waste of time. Pretend science. Pretend practitioner.

@Griff the science behind bjj is real, but none of it is explained in this video whatsoever. It's like you said- "lever lever something something jiujitsu". Interestingly they don't say which university the 'physics professor' is from. Makes you wonder if that's an actual professor... if you google search her name and credentials, nothing comes up!

the science is real, but its not really applicable, they basically just say "lever lever lever, therefore, lever", and the dude they say is a world champion is a random no stripe purple belt lol

I am sorry but the 'physics' explanation in this video is really bad. The professor's explanations of the 3 types of levers are correct, but much of what the narrator says is mumbo-jumbo. As a physics educator I was hoping for something to share with students but this is almost devoid of content. For example at 0:50, "An important thing to know is the impulsive momentum relationship. This alters the energy experienced by a body beneath the activity, and this constraint is broken even with the motivation of the resulting force, so if you have more mass, which is weight, you'll be able to move that mass rapidly, which is the force motivation on your target." What energy does this refer to and what does this have to do with impulse and momentum? What constraint? What on earth is a 'force motivation'? I'm afraid it seems like whoever wrote this script just decided to string some plausible sounding words together instead of actually trying to explain any physics!
